Back at it

Hello friends! I'm back! It's been forever, yes, but life has a way of getting crazy and awesome when you least expect it.

RECAP OF 2014:

1. New things: I did a whole bunch of cool new things! I tried my hand at a month of eating paleo. I signed up for boot camp classes and for kickboxing. I got into yoga. I did a Tough Mudder!

2. Tough Mudder! It deserves its own number. It was pretty epic.

3. I got engaged! Pretty much the highlight of the year.

I can't believe I stopped blogging all the way back in July. Was it really that long ago? Crazy talk. Life happens! I didn't really make health a priority once the summer came to an end and the school year started up again. Work was so busy (I know, excuses, excuses!) But I'm back at it, because fitting into a wedding dress is a damn good motivator. Things have been pretty busy with wedding planning, but blogging has always helped me focus on my health. Back at it. So what's new in that world?

I'm back down to fighting weight (under 150), woohoo! Things were looking dicey a few months ago, like, over 160 dicey. Glad I got that under wraps. One of my good friends and I have been keeping each other accountable through texting/weekly updates, which has been immensely helpful.(thanks, Katie!) I'm back to tracking what I eat, because it helps me see what/how much I'm eating. I'm also gymming it up. Remember when I was scared of the pull up machine? I've broken the comfort zone further by walking straight into the scary room. The scary room is the room at the very end of the gym that is 85% testosterone, 70% straight bicep muscles, 50% free weights and 50% machines I have no idea how to use. I realize that doesn't add up. But I've been going in there like I own it. How else am I gonna get my swole on, y'know what I'm sayin?! It's not so scary anymore.
We've been watching this show called Wake Up Call with the Rock. And basically the Rock acts as a fitness trainer, grief counselor, probation officer, family therapist, and overall truth-bringer all in one. It is an unintentionally comedic show. This is him from the show, and essentially this is what every dude in the scary room is doing 24/7.
At the beginning of this blog, I pledged that 2014 would be my fittest, most legendary year yet. Was it? I think overall, pretty much yes! Did I get an 8 pack? No. Did I do a Tough Mudder? Yup. Did I run a marathon? No. Did I push myself out of my comfort zone? Yes. Did I fall off the wagon a bit during the fall? Yeah. But did I get back on the horse at the end of the year? Heck yeah.

Nothing is perfect, and let's be real, I probably will never have a six pack. But I think 2014 was pretty epic in its own right. Bring on 2015!
